I just couldn't stop myself. . . .

I know I SAID 'full steam ahead' with Jaden, but I just couldn't help it! I felt the urge to cast on for something new this week (I'm sure you know the feeling).

I was out shopping yesterday and bought a pair of 'dressy' black capris. It got me thinking of all the lovely little tanks I could knit to wear with them when we go out to dinner (which we did this past Friday and I felt like I had nothing to wear when I went to get ready - and I know you know that feeling too!)

So, using some yarn in my stash, I cast on for Soleil (from Knitty.com). I've liked this simple yet elegant top for so long, I've been itching to start it. And as usual, I had a great time looking at everyone else's project on Ravelry.

A little confession about the yarn. I bought this stuff on Ebay (of course at a bargain price!) It said the color was yellow, I thought it would make a nice summery top ..... errr, I'd say the color is more 'lime green'. Lesson learned! I shall keep my yarn buying to my lovely LYS in future. But that's not to say I don't like the color (I wouldn't be using it if I didn't). I think it will look nice with some classy capris ;-) I just hope I get the fit right. I did a gauge check and I got the right amount of stitches per 4 inches, but with the rows I seemed way off? It said 32 rows to 4" and I only got about 26?!!! Taking the bull by the horns, I cast on anyway. I may end up frogging it - we'll just have to see.

It's the weekend - have a great one!

I've always been too chicken to buy yarn on ebay, for that exact reason. But that color is definitely springy anyway. I like it. Can't wait to see the finished project!
God bless :)

I love that lime green color! Very fun for Spring and Summer (and yes I know that feeling of having nothing appropriate to wear - LOL). I never ever pay any attention to the row guage and will be interested to see if you think that guage makes a difference. I am, of course, fanatically about stitch guage.

It's still a great color. I can totally see that with black capri pants!

That color will looks great with black capris! Great combo.

I love cotton twist yarn--I need to find a project for some I have in my stash. I don't think I have enough for a garment though.

Soleil is a nice pattern & should knit up very quickly. I have the same problem with casting on - it's my favorite part of knitting!

It's so hard to resist the temptation to start something new. Lime green it may be, but it's still lovely, quite tangy and zesty. It will look so good with black capris.

That is such a coincidence! I've just been over to Manchester and came back with yellow yarn! I haven't cast on though...yet!

Not yellow, but I really like it! I don't remember ever seeing Soleil before - I'm a sucker for lacy edging like that on the bottom of a sweater. I can't wait to go check out all the variations on Ravelry now. Thanks!
