I got me some Amy Butler. . . .

. . . . now what do I do?! This was very much an' impulse buy' last weekend in my local Barnes and Noble! I can't even sew that well!!!

I have to admit I hadn't really heard of Amy Butler (and her wonderful fabrics) until recently on other people's knitting blogs. I checked out her website and love the fabrics she has. I also loved THESE that Leslie made, and THESE that she linked to (that's why I wanted to buy the book)! I do own a sewing machine, but last time I used it the thread kept bunching up underneath? I bought some material today (I don't have any 'vintage sheets' lying around ;-)

So, wish me luck, I'm gonna try to make myself a pair of lounge pants!!

On the knitting front. . . . I've picked up Jaden again! I am half way up the back on the Woodland cardigan, but I got to thinking today, that even if I finish Woodland pretty quickly, chances are I won't be wearing it that much. Why you ask? Well, I'm in Austin, TX and already most days are in the mid to high 80's and my a/c is already on (sorry to all you folk that are still waiting for spring and have snow on the ground)!! If I knit and finish Jaden quickly, at least I will be able to wear it a few times before the really HOT weather gets here.

AND, if I can get them both finished by July, well then they should both get some nice wear in England when we visit the family, after all, the height of summer there might just be 70 degrees - on a good day!!

This book is such eye candy! I made the apron for my sister in-law. Even if you never sew a thing, such a treat to look at!:)

I almost bought that book but decided to wait because I still need to buy a machine :)
Good luck with the pants. Leslie's look so comfy.

I agree that the AB fabrics are gorgeous! In my opinion, the In Stitches book is really good for beginning sewers (sewists?) because many of the projects don't use a pattern, but involve measuring out rectangular or square strips of fabric. If you don't already have one, I would recommend getting one of those quilting sets with the self-healing mat, rotary cutter and ruler to make the cutting/measuring quicker, easier and more fun!

Good luck with the sewing adventure - there are so many cute bags and aprons and fun things that people sew. I can't wait to see what you make :)

Ooh, sewing. I think I shall too succumb to it and finally use the machine that sits in the closet. For now, knitting still beckons.

You are a knitting fool girl!!! I just found your blog (I think via someone named Allison and I don't know her either) I have just taken the time to skim through most of your posts and am amazed at how much you knit and the items you knit. I, like you, have been knitting for a very long time tho' I didn't get started until I was in my early 20's and am now 70 y/o. I love all things yarn. I live in AZ and can't use many of the things I either knit or crochet because of the heat so I put them in the church craft sale and the money goes to missions. That make me a missionary, right? I will book mark your blog and visit you often. Right now I need to get back to my yarn and finish crocheting a rug that will go into a basket of bathroom items for a wedding present on Sunday.
